Alphen aan den Rijn, Holland
Urban infill in a historical setting
This urban infill on a former brownfield along the river Rhine in Holland was completed in 2005.
The two orientations of the site were the inspiration for the design — the wide views of the river on one side, and the historical context of Dutch dike houses on the other side. The plan contains various types of dwellings (24 in total), ranging from luxurious penthouses to more typically urban townhouses.
Nicely preserving the historical and natural views, the parkade is situated under a green roof.
